Clients From Hell
As designers we all dread working for those Clients From Hell, why not tweet your nightmare?

I’ve had some free time lately to work on a couple of personal projects that I have been wanting to do for quite a while now. One of them is to start a small online store selling short-run prints and stock photo sets. I’m still researching information on types of prints, paper, inks etc., but in the meantime this is a new illustration that I am currently working on and possibly turning into a 12 x18 print.

I’ve been working on a new typeface based off the classic Bauhaus font. This type is made up of solid colors and lots of lines and will be available as a free download. The font will be a handset type (.eps) allowing anyone to easily tweak the color and shapes.

Gravilux, Bubble Harp and Antograph
Scott Snibble created these awesome apps for the iPhone and iPad by combining painting, animation, art and science. The small particles move around gracefully by following your fingertips around the screen.

Persona
Persona is an ongoing project created by photographer Jason Travis. He photographs people along with the items they have inside their bags in a very voyeuristic and intriguing way.

Street Museum iPhone App
Street Museum looks like an amazing developed by Brothers and Sisters. This app guides users through the streets of London displaying old images over the current view via Geo Tagging and Google Maps.
Colossal Media
I was walking around East Village last week and spotted someone painting a giant mural on the side of a building. I noticed he was only using regular paint brushes and had a photo as reference of the image he was creating which is really incredible considering the scale of the whole building. I did some researching and stumbled across Colossal Media which is really similar to what I saw and they even have videos of their process.
Availability Calendar
Availability Calendar is cool little program developed by Creative League that lets users share their availabilities with clients so they when when you are available, booked or on Hold. Really useful for freelancers like me and many others.

Creative Week NYC is here. A ton of events scattered around the city, some free some not but all pretty interesting.

Berlin Street Art
Someone recently decided to take art to a new level by dumping various colors of paint onto one of Berlin’s busiest intersections. The effect is a rainbow like swirl of colors, splatters and shapes smeared throughout the cities roads.

GE: Data Visualization
A cool simple little interactive visualization created by Lisa Strausfeld of Pentagram. The site features some of the most used household items and when you rollover each one it tells you how many watts that item uses. A good application if you are trying to save a little $$.
NY Design Week Guide 2010
Core 77 is back with another guide to Design Week in NY. The site breaks down the events by location (Soho, Tribeca, Noho, etc) and gives a brief description of who and what is happening at the event.

Mr. Doobs latest project ‘Harmony - Procedural Drawing’ is a fun little online application that lets you draw whatever you want in black and white with a couple of brushes and shapes to choose from. Definitely a good way to kill some time if you are sitting around with nothing to do.
I was going through some files and came across these unused pieces I did earlier this year for a client. Getting in the holiday spirit, these are up for a free download for anyone that can find use of them. Not sure where they would fit in but perhaps some sports related work or icons. These are completely customizable .ai files (illustrator). Download here.

A friend of mine recently came across an interesting photo shoot for Empire Online’s 20th Birthday Portfolio. The one image that grabbed his attention was the shot of Gerard Butler (Right) dressed in business casual attire holding a spartan shield. I had a similar idea that I created last year for a Cinemax campaign (Left) that featured the movie 300 as well. The concept was an everyday person imaging themselves as a spartan in a modern world. Anyway I think it’s kind of cool seeing a illustrated version and a closely related photograph.
Public Ad Campaign recently took over the streets of NYC whitewashing over 120 unlawful NPA billboards. A couple of people were arrested during this process however the end result according to the organizers was dubbed great success. Some of the whitewashed billboards was later turned into art pieces created by various artists around the city.
